    Hi There,

This video is great. Did you use an educational program to teach her to read or a certain method?

Wow – this is wonderful! Emily is an inspiration for parents to help their children to read – at earlier age than most expect to do so. Thanks for the info and the video…..Emily is terrific! and so cute

  12. Cafeblanx says:

Are you sure that she doesn’t just recognize the ‘picture’ of the words? If you’ve used the same words over and over again. If you gave a word and asked her to read it. It had to be a very easy word but a word she’s probably never seen written down before. Would she be able to read it? And maybe even recognize the word, because she had heard it before, but never seen it written down?
I have no idea, if she would be able to – I’m just curious :)
She’s gifted for sure, and she’s adorable!

tis is brilliant- well done to emily. thought i was hallucinating when i recalled the commmercial to my husband (as had teleshopping on at 3am whilst sitting up with sick baby) but here’s the proof!

although she is recognising the “picture” of the words, it is a valid method of reading and it’s something we all learn eventually anyway, or it would take half an hour for the average adult to read what i just said. breaking words into graphemes and phonemes comes later

  17. aussiedicky says:

Unfortunately I am not. If I was, my daughter would be in a gold plated high chair.

I was 18 months approx when I learned to read phonetically. I used to point to every letter all the time and say “that” and make my parents spell out words over and over, but they didn’t know I was actually learning to read them. The books I read they thought I had memorized but then one day we were at someone elses house and I started reading books to them that i had never seen before. My brother also learned at that age (I was 9 then and liked to play his tutor lol)

  22. babs1956 says:
